Morristown 15-year-old takes lyrical dance ‘Onstage’
MORRISTOWN – Isabella Racioppi is ready to rise above the pack this March at the Mayo Performing Arts Center, where she will perform a lyrical dance.
A 15-year-old Morristown resident and sophomore at Kent Place School in Summit, Racioppi calls her routine “Rise Up,” and she is dedicating it to her grandmother, who she said used to love to watch her dance.
“The lyrics and music are very inspirational to me,” Racioppi said. “They are about facing adversity and persevering.”
Racioppi has been dancing since she was four and loves to perform and showcase her love of dance.
Leading up to the show, Racioppi plans to practice her routine as often as possible because she knows she will face stiff competition.
“I saw the other acts during Media Day,” Racioppi said. “Everyone is talented and deserves to win.”
If she wins, Racioppi plans to apply the prize money to her Girl Scout gold award project to help provide water filters to Colombian schools who do not have access to clean drinking water.
She may also treat herself to some ice cream, her favorite food, at the South Street Creamery, one of her favorite places in Morristown.
Aside from dancing, Racioppi will have plenty of hobbies to keep her busy off the stage, including drawing, photography, traveling, and watching her favorite shows on Netflix like “Star Trek” and “The West Wing.” She’ll also continue to play volleyball and softball.
“I’m not sure what’s next,” Racioppi said. “But I hope to be passionate about whatever I end up doing.”
