This is the 12th in a series of profiles highlighting the finalists of Morristown Onstage, to be held March 1 at the Mayo Performing Arts Center.

MORRISTOWN – A five-member rock and power-pop band will perform an original song at Morristown Onstage.

Big Radio will play “Vincent’s Song” at the Mayo Performing Arts Center on March 1.

“We decided to play an upbeat, poppy song that would be catchy and easy to connect to, with an important message,” said lead vocalist Karen Rosen, 45, of Morristown.
The rest of the band consists of lead guitarist Alex Mania, 57, of Crab Apple, Nebraska, rhythm guitarist Mark Loughney, 55, of Maplewood, drummer Michael York, 45, of Hillsborough, and Robert Mobley, 48, of South Orange.

Rosen is an art therapist in Morristown who has been singing in bands for more than 15 years. She convinced the band to audition for the show to share their art and help fundraise for the Morris School District.

“We all have ‘day jobs’ and get together as much as possible in our free time to rehearse and write new songs for fun, relaxation and friendship,” Rosen said.

Leading up to the show, Big Radio plans to rest up between rehearsals so they can put on a great performance for the crowd.

“We love what we do and hope to bring happiness to many others through our music,” Rosen said. “We believe in the healing power of creating and listening to music and encourage everyone to welcome music into their lives.”

Following the show, Big Radio plans to write, record, and perform as much original music as possible.
